New Zealand defeated its rival South Africa with a 50 run victory on Wednesday in the NZ vs SA semi-final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 series.

The blackcaps gave South Africans an ambitious 363 runs target in the NZ vs SA semi-final match today. South Africa managed to make 312/9 in 50 overs.

South Africa faced early hiccups as their opening batsman Ryan Rickelton was taken out by Matt Henry in 5th over while making only 20 runs.

After this shaky start, Dussen made a recovering partnership with Bavuma making 105 runs together. The duo scored half centuries each until Bavuma was taken out by his rival captain Santner in the 23rd over.

Bavuma scored an impressive 57 off 71 balls with the help of one six and four fours. Dussen managed to partner with Aiden Markram while making 36 runs before falling victim to Santner.

After this wicket, South Africa faced trouble as it started losing wickets at an alarming rate with its score at 218/8.

It merits a mention that David Miller managed to stay firm in his position as he made an unbeaten century. Miller scored ten fours and four sixes, making 100 scores off 67 deliveries.

New Zealand’s decision to bat first bore fruit as the Blackcaps earned 362/6 in fifty overs. During its batting, openers Will Young and Ravindra made an impressive 48 run partnership until Young was taken out by Lungi Ngidi in the eighth over.

After Young fell victim, Ravindra was joined by Williamson and their partnership secured 164 runs off 154 balls.
