WEBDESK: WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to upload video statuses of up to 90 seconds, according to WABetaInfo. This WhatsApp update is part of the app’s efforts to improve how people share their moments with friends and family.

Previously, users could only upload videos up to 60 seconds long. Before that, the limit was just 30 seconds. With this new WhatsApp update, users don’t need to cut their videos into smaller clips, making it easier to tell longer stories without interruption.

While it is not yet available to everyone, the roll-out is expected to expand gradually. This change has been welcomed by many who use the Status feature daily as it gives them more creative freedom and story telling ability.

Users can go to the Status tab in their WhatsApp, tap “My Status” and upload a 90 second video to try out the new feature (if available). The longer video will be shared with all contacts who can view the user’s status updates.

This WhatsApp update brings the app closer in competition with other platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, where users are used to sharing longer videos. It also shows how Meta is continuing to position itself as a more expressive and user-friendly tool in the competitive messaging landscape.

The company has not announced an official date for the full release of this WhatsApp update, but users can expect it to arrive in future updates once testing is complete.
