WEBDESK: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a special Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) with lifetime validity for citizens who pledge to donate their organs.
The program urges people to donate organs by giving them a CNIC with a green heart symbol. The symbol shows that the cardholder is committed to helping after they pass away.
The lifetime valid CNIC is available to all Pakistani citizens aged 18 and above. Those who wish to get this special card can visit any registration center across the country. Alternatively, they can apply through NADRA’s Pak-ID mobile application, making the process even more convenient.

This new CNIC will not require renewal, offering donors a one-time registration with a card that remains valid for life.
In addition to this NADRA has started using a digital system for people to register births and deaths across the country.
It has also introduced a new policy in 2025 to make it easier for overseas Pakistanis to update their date of birth on their National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The updated rules streamline the process and include a revised fee structure for age modification on the NADRA NICOP.
