The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) app, called Pak Identity, has made it easier for Pakistanis to get their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) delivered directly to their homes.
With this app, there is no need to visit a registration centre. It is especially helpful for people living abroad, in remote areas, or those who cannot travel due to health issues.
Now, you can download the app on your phone and complete the entire process from home.
Features of this NADRA app
First-time CNIC applicants can also apply through the app.
Users can update existing ID cards too — including changes to name, address, and other personal information — through a smooth digital interface.
The app also features facial verification, making the experience even more secure.
It is available on both iOS and Google Play Store.
Here is what the app looks like:

In another development, NADRA has introduced chipless CNICs, which have improved security, are more accessible, and more affordable.
This card has a QR code through which users can access their digital identity via the Pak ID mobile app.
The price of this type of CNIC is a maximum of around PKR 2,200 for executive service and a minimum of PKR 400, through which you can get it delivered in a month.
It is pertinent to mention that for the first-time applicant aged 18, there would be no charges.
In comparison, a chip-based CNIC holds relevant data of the holder and can be used for various purposes without an internet connection.
