KARACHI: In a shocking development, father of Armaghan, the prime suspect in Mustafa Amir murder case, has been arrested by Karachi police on drugs and weapons possession charges.
According to a statement by the Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), authorities arrested Kamran Qureshi, father of Armaghan, following a crackdown against drug dealers.
“Acting on a tip-off police arrested Qureshi from house no 35, 7th Street, Khayaben-e-Momin, DHA Phase 5, Gizri, Karachi,” according to the statement.
According to the police, 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) drug along with 9MM pistol were recovered from Kamran Qureshi.
Police have registered a case against him under Control of Narcotic Substances Act and possession of unlicensed weapons.
Mustafa Amir was kidnapped and allegedly murdered by Armaghan and Shiraz in Karachi’s elite Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 6. According to details, Armaghan tortured Amir with an iron rod, later stuffing his body in the trunk of his car.
Armaghan, along with Shiraz, drove the car to Hub, Balochistan, where he torched the vehicle along with young Mustafa.
Police undertook a raid on his residence last month when they were suddenly met with heavy armed resistance. Two police officers got injured in the dangerous standoff; however, the authorities managed to arrest him.
At the time of his arrest, it was discovered that he was running an illegal call center defrauding foreign citizens of thousands of dollars.
Mustafa Amir’s murder became a high-profile case when the police uncovered a web of drug trafficking among young people, including the arrest of actor Sajid Hasan’s son for drug trafficking.
On Tuesday, the prosecution told an ATC that Armaghan confessed to killing Mustafa Amir.
