KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani actor, Danish Taimoor, has recently landed himself in controversy for comments on his marriage in a live Ramzan transmission program.

Social media platforms including X (formerly Twitter) got inundated with the multiple clips in which Danish Taimoor, pointing towards his wife, Ayeza Khan, stated: “I say this in front of her [Ayeza Khan] and I’ll say it in front of everyone. I am allowed to marry four women; I’m not doing it but that’s my right.”

He further added, “Allah Has given me this permission and nobody can take this away from me. But it is my love and respect for her [Ayeza Khan] that I am spending my life with her only, for now.”

The comments did not sit right with many social media users as many lashed out at Danish Taimoor, with one user writing, “Imagine having ayeza khan, two kids, a luxury lifestyle & still saying “filhal inhi k sath zindagi guzarna chahta hoon” ….Pakistani men will never stop using religion as per their convenience.  Sigh!”

Another user commented: “The way he said “filhaal” had me in the first place .” One user on X (formerly Twitter) tweeted: Ayeza Khan, one of #Pakistan’s biggest stars, who has achieved more than her husband, & likely earns more than him, is still humiliated on TV.  It isn’t about religion but male entitlement deeply ingrained in Pakistan’s society.”

The user further wrote: “The sadder part is the host as well as Ayeza are nodding in agreement giving out such a wrong message to the young man and women in #Pakistan.”

One user took to X, to write: “Imagine having ayeza khan, beautiful, educated, talented, mother to ur kids and still bragging on television about how you CAN marry three more. absolute trash.”

However, many users defended Danish’s comments, arguing that he did not disrespect anyone while only speaking about his religious rights.

One user wrote: “There was nothing, disrespecting nor humiliating in this clip, don’t know wha triggers you.”

Another user agreed with Danish, writing, “Technically speaking what is wrong in his statement … He just mentioned religious doctrine which is very clear.”

One user defended the actor’s comments, writing: “Superb statement by Danish, and now nibbis are crying over this clip, I mean seriously? Some women are obsessed with targeting a man over this rule, but they love every other Islamic rule. That’s the audacity and unemployment of these keyboard warrior nibbis.”
