Modi’s nightmare as Washington says Kashmir talks still on the table

Kashmir talks

In another diplomatic nightmare for India, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce on June 11, while talking to a reporter, reiterated President Donald Trump’s resolve to work on the Kashmir dispute.

After Pakistan and India engaged in heavy clashes during a four-day war last month, both countries agreed to a ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump on May 10.

Interestingly, Trump announced the ceasefire, while internationalizing the Kashmir dispute and vowing to mediate between India and Pakistan to resolve this old dispute.

“I will work with both of you to see if, after a ‘thousand years’, a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir,” Donald Trump wrote in his social media platform.

Historically, India has always refused or avoided third-party intervention into the Kashmir dispute instead monopolizing it by calling it a bilateral issue.

However, India has never wanted bilateral talks with Pakistan as it continues to use the false narrative of ‘terror’ as an excuse to avoid peace with Pakistan.

Since India launched its Operation Sindoor, it has continued to face diplomatic and military setbacks from Pakistan.

This development became further resolute after US State Department spokesperson stated, “[Trump] has been the only one to bring certain people to the table to have conversations that nobody thought was possible.”

“It shouldn’t surprise anyone that he’d want to manage something like that,” said Bruce.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has credited himself for “stopping a nuclear war” between India and Pakistan at least a dozen times, saying, “They don’t give me credit for anything, but nobody else could have stopped it.”
