WEBDESK: A disturbing video has surfaced showing BJP MLA assaults toll staff. The former BJP MLA Radheshyam Patidar can be seen assaulting toll plaza staff during a heated confrontation at the Kherkheda toll booth on Sitamau Suwasra Road in Mandsaur.
The footage, dated June 25, shows Patidar slapping and pushing the toll plaza manager multiple times, sparking public outrage and raising fresh concerns about political entitlement and VIP culture in India.
The incident follows a dispute that began on June 22, when a tractor reportedly owned by Patidar passed through the toll without payment. The driver claimed exemption for agricultural goods, but when toll staff requested payment, an argument broke out. Later that day, Patidar’s daughter-in-law, Durga Patidar — who also serves as the District Panchayat president alleged misconduct by the toll staff after her car was stopped for 5 to 8 minutes.
Instead of following legal procedures, BJP MLA assaults toll staff in person on June 25, claiming he was “counselling” the manager. In the video, Patidar, dressed in traditional kurta-pajama, can be seen repeatedly slapping the toll manager, Ketan Upadhyay, and then forcefully pushing him aside. The former MLA made no apology, instead justifying his violence by accusing the staff of misbehaving with women, despite no verified evidence.
When approached by media, Upadhyay declined to comment, saying the video “speaks for itself.” Meanwhile, another video from the same period shows further clashes between toll staff and individuals travelling on the tractor believed to be linked to Patidar.
BJP MLA assaults toll staff again becomes the harsh reality of a nation where political figures continue to act with impunity. Despite the video proof, there is no confirmation of police action against Patidar, fuelling anger over the double standards in Indian law enforcement.
Durga Patidar had earlier filed a complaint with SP Abhishek Anand, alleging that toll workers were rude and made offensive gestures. She also claimed they insisted she lower the rear window of her vehicle, which she took as a form of harassment. Yet, none of these allegations have been independently verified, and no report confirms misconduct from the toll staff.
This entire episode has once again highlighted the deep rooted VIP culture in India. While the common man is held accountable for even the smallest mistakes, powerful politicians behave like they are above the law. BJP MLA assaults toll staff, and the system looks the other way proving yet again that in India, justice is not blind, just selective.
