Modi regime’s voter war, hindutva’s new weapon; systematic removal of Muslim voters in Bihar

Webdesk: In India, voters have been erased before any votes could be cast. Under Modi’s rule, being a minority has become the biggest crime.

Modi’s election plan has now been exposed. A systematic campaign to remove minorities from the voter list is underway and gaining speed.

Ahead of the upcoming elections in Bihar, millions of minority voters have reportedly been excluded from the electoral roll.

The removal of Muslims from voter lists is accelerating. This silent campaign to strip people of their democratic rights is reaching a dangerous peak.

Under the Hindutva agenda, and in the name of the State Electoral Roll process, millions of Muslims, Dalits, and poor citizens are being removed from the voter list across Bihar.

According to The Tribune India, there has been a massive removal of voters from Muslim-majority districts in Bihar. The publication reports unprecedented cuts in voter rolls, particularly in minority-populated districts.

The Election Commission itself confirmed that the highest number of voter deletions occurred in 10 districts of Bihar.

In Muslim-majority districts such as Madhubani, East Champaran, Purnia, and Sitamarhi, thousands of names have vanished from the voter list.

The opposition claims that the SIR process is being used to target and remove minorities and the economically weak from voter rolls.

In Madhubani alone, 352,545 voters may be excluded due to non-submission of the required forms. Similarly, in East Champaran, 316,793 forms were not returned; in Purnia, 273,920; and in Sitamarhi, 244,962.

The Election Commission says that not submitting the form means a likely exclusion from the voter list.

Other affected districts include Patna, Gaya, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur.

Overall, more than 6.5 million voters have been removed. The stated reasons include death, relocation, or duplicate registration, according to The Tribune India.

The Commission says it received forms from 72.4 million voters. The deadline to file objections is September 1.

What remains clear is that democracy is being reduced to a façade. In Modi’s India, removing minorities from the process even before the vote has become routine.

The government’s slogan, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” meaning ‘together with all, development for all,’ now rings hollow.

In reality, the voter list is being cleansed of Muslims.

This happening, especially with the alarming rise in Islamophobia in India, is utterly shocking.

From public calls to boycott Muslim businesses to attacks on places of worship, and now basic rights such as voting, the atmosphere has grown more hostile.

This growing intolerance is being fueled by extremist rhetoric, social media campaigns, and in some cases, silence or inaction from authorities.

As a result, many Indian Muslims feel more unsafe and marginalised than ever before.
