ChatGPT went down on Tuesday across several parts of the world, including Pakistan and social media had a meltdown, showing just how much people now rely on the AI chatbot.
The platform faced a partial outage, and it took a few hours for full recovery.
OpenAI said it was “observing elevated error rates and latency across ChatGPT” and had identified the root cause. The team worked quickly to fix the issue.
The outage affected not only the chatbot but also Sora, OpenAI’s video generation model, as well as APIs.
While some users reacted to the outage with hilarious memes, others were genuinely frustrated as it disrupted their work.
ChatGPT went down to give people sstuffs to talk about like “it is time to start using your brain”.

ChatGpt went down and people panicked. Including me, I wanted to look something up and I couldn't. Maybe this is a reminder that we shouldn't be too reliant on AI.

Earlier this week, OpenAI said it now has three million paying business users of ChatGPT, up from two million announced in February earlier this year.
According to the company, the milestone reflects increasing demand for ChatGPT products as more businesses seek AI that enables them to work more productively, efficiently, and strategically.
Glassdoor ran another poll to see if usage continued to grow. More than 5,000 professionals weighed in, and 62 per cent of them—more than double the number from the year prior—are using ChatGPT, or similar tools, at work.
Services like Zoom and X have also had high-profile outages this year.
