WEBDESK: Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl,” has passed away at the age of 39.
Police in Manhattan have said that they responded to an emergency call on Wednesday and found Trachtenberg “unconscious and unresponsive.”
The American actress was best known for playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s younger sister Dawn Summers. Later, she became a fan favourite for her role as “Georgina Sparks” in Gossip Girl that ran from 2007 – 2012.
Trachtengerg made her film debut in Harriet the Spy in 1996. She also appeared in films such as “EuroTrip,” “Ice Princess,” and “17 Again.”
She earned recognition and admiration in the entertainment industry for her wide range of comedic and drama roles.
At this point in time, Michelle Trachtenberg’s cause of death is unknown. However, it should be noted that she recently went through a liver transplant which may have led to complications. Her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Ed Westwick, her co-star on “Gossip Girl,” expressed his sorrow on social media, “So sad to hear of the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg. Sending prayers.”
Blake Lively, a Gossip Girl co-star, said Trachtenberg “did everything… 200%”.
“She laughed the fullest at someone’s joke… she cared deeply about her work, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved, she was big and bold and distinctly herself,” she said.
