Matt Short, player of Islamabad United has been ruled out of Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to injury recurrence ahead of game against Karachi Kings.

He suffered an injury during Champions Trophy.

A joint medical assessment conducted by Islamabad United’s medical team and Cricket Australia’s staff led to the decision to withdraw him from the competition in the interest of his long-term fitness.

“Following his arrival in Pakistan, Matt Short had shown encouraging signs of recovery. However, discomfort resurfaced during training sessions, prompting immediate assessment by Islamabad United’s medical team in close consultation with Cricket Australia’s medical staff,” according to Islamabad United.

He has now returned to Australia to focus on his recovery.

Islamabad United is all set to face Karachi Kings tonight. The match is about to start.

Islamabad United has won all matches during this PSL. On the other hand, Karachi Kings lost one match which was against Lahore Qalandars.

In their last five encounters, Islamabad has come out on top each time, so the odds seem to favour them. However, with David Warner now leading the Karachi Kings, only time will tell how this match unfolds.

Islamabad is at the top of the score table of PSL 2025, Karachi is on third spot after Lahore.
