In a significant move to promote electric vehicles in Pakistan, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the federal government’s request to reduce tariffs for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
According to NEPRA, the base tariff for EV charging stations has been slashed from Rs45.55 per unit to Rs23.57 per unit, marking a reduction of Rs21.98 per unit.
The authority also approved the government’s proposal to remove the capped margin of Rs24.44 previously applied to EV charging stations. NEPRA stated that under the revised policy, the profit margin for operators will now be determined by market forces.
The federal government had earlier submitted the proposal to reduce tariffs in a bid to support the growth of EV infrastructure in the country.
