LAYYAH: Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, announced the immediate construction of Layyah Medical College during an official ceremony of Honhaar Scholarship, in Layyah, on Friday.
While addressing a gathering for the distribution of Honhaar Scholarships and laptops among talented students, the Chief Minister talked about education, development, and national unity.
Speaking to an laptop distributing ceremony, Maryam Nawaz declared that the people of Layyah would soon see the beginning of Layyah Medical College’s construction.
Alongside the Layyah Medical College announcement, Maryam Nawaz revealed major education sector initiatives. She mentioned the allocation of 1.5 billion rupees for upgrading Layyah University and confirmed that this year, 110 billion rupees have been given to the Education Department to improve schools and educational institutions across Punjab.
The Chief Minister also shared plans for uplifting 50,000 government schools in the province. She promised that within a year, there would be no shortage of classrooms, furniture, clean drinking water, or basic facilities, including toilets, in these schools.
Highlighting the overwhelming response to the Honhaar Scholarship Program, Maryam Nawaz announced the increase in scholarships from 30,000 to 50,000. Furthermore, she raised the number of laptops being distributed from 30,000 to 100,000, ensuring that talented students are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in a modern, digital world.
During her address, Maryam Nawaz touched upon national unity, reminding the youth to always stand with their country and never become tools in the hands of those who seek to harm Pakistan. She urged them to understand the difference between destructive forces and those who work for the nation’s progress.
“Children, it is important to understand the difference between May 9, May 10, and May 28,” she added.She further emphasised, “Children, never become a weapon in the hands of the enemy against your own country.”
With the launch of Pakistan’s first government pre-school and the commitment to build Layyah Medical College, Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her dedication to improving education and healthcare for the people of Punjab.
This development marks a significant milestone for Layyah, as Layyah Medical College is set to bring quality medical education to the region for the first time.
