WEBDESK: Marvel Studios has officially announced, on Wednesday, the cast for its highly anticipated film, Avengers Doomsday, set to release in May 2026. The upcoming movie will bring together fan-favorite superheroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), along with characters from the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.
One of the biggest surprises in Avengers Doomsday is the return of Robert Downey Jr. Not as Iron Man, but as the villain Doctor Doom, marking a shocking twist in the MCU storyline. The film will also feature Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Anthony Mackie as Captain America.
The X-Men characters will make their grand entrance into the MCU, with Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X and Ian McKellen returning as Magneto. Other iconic mutants, including Cyclops, Mystique, Nightcrawler, and Beast, will also be part of Avengers Doomsday.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s newly announced Fantastic Four cast will join the battle, with Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing. Their inclusion adds to the excitement surrounding Avengers Doomsday, as fans eagerly await how these teams will come together.
Doomsday will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are also returning to Marvel after directing Captain America: Winter Soldier, Civil War and the last two Avengers movies.
Those missing in action (if any Marvel fans are still following along) are Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlett Witch, Paul Bettany’s Vision, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr Strange.
Also notably not listed are Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
With a massive lineup of superheroes, villains, and unexpected returns, Avengers Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the biggest MCU films to date. The movie aims to follow in the footsteps of Avengers: Endgame, which became one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
As production gets underway, Marvel fans worldwide are speculating about the plot and how this epic crossover will unfold. One thing is certain – Avengers Doomsday is set to be a game-changer in the MCU.
