Man shot dead in Peshawar after removing member from WhatsApp group

A man, Mushtaq Ahmed was shot dead after he removed a member from the WhatsApp group.

The incident took place in Peshawar.

Mushtaq was the admin of this WhatsApp group.

The person who shot him has been arrested, according to the police.

Mushtaq’s brother said that the shooter and his brother both had a fight in the WhatsApp group later they met each other to resolve the issue, however, the shooter turned up with a gun and killed Ahmed.

Recently, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hamid recently said, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has a proven track record of tackling crime and terrorism.”

He urged police personnel to uphold their traditions of honesty, integrity, and hard work, stating, “Police must act as protectors  in every operation, ensuring the safety of lives and property and maintaining peace and order.”

He also stressed the importance of community policing, calling on officers to win the hearts of the public and strengthen trust between the police and citizens.

In the last few years, Peshawar witnessed a 30 per cent increase in crime rate.

90 crimes were reported per day in 2022, while in 2023 the number climbed to 129 per day.

Street crimes also recorded an increase during the first eight months of 2023 as 323 cases of robberies took place against 296 reported in 2022.
