Malir union football stadium was inaugurated on Sunday by Sindh local government minister Saeed Ghani.

Who used the ceremony to underline that the PPP represents all urban centres, not just rural Sindh.

Ghani said development schemes worth “billions of rupees” are under way across Karachi and should finish within the current fiscal year.

The minister also cut ribbons on two other Malir projects, including a new community centre, telling residents the facilities will operate “efficiently and transparently.”

Elected representatives and local PPP leaders attended the event.

Ghani cited the party’s long roots in Malir and pointed to city wide initiatives such as Shahrah-e-Bhutto, whose final phase to Kathore is slated for completion by December.

On water supply, he said the stalled K-IV project is back on track under WAPDA with Rs70 billion set aside.

Furthermore, hub canal flows should resume on 14 August alongside a request for a higher quota from Hub Dam.

Dismissing claims the PPP favours strongholds, he noted spending in wards where the party “did not win a single councillor.”

Karachi’s ongoing water and sewerage works, he added, are progressing “swiftly.”

Turning to Independence Day, Ghani urged citizens to take part in celebrations he called a “Day of Victory,”.

Praising both the armed forces and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for countering Indian misinformation on recent conflicts.

Work on the long delayed Quaidabad bridge, he said, will also finish soon, easing commuter pressure in the city’s south eastern corridor.
