WEBDESK: Dr. Maheera Abdul Ghani has made Pakistan proud by becoming the first Pakistani woman to receive a PhD in Material Science and Metallurgy from the prestigious University of Cambridge.

Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Maheera Abdul Ghani began her academic journey with a degree in engineering. Her passion for science and innovation led her to pursue higher studies in Europe. She was awarded the highly competitive Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, which allowed her to study in Germany and France before joining Cambridge for her doctoral work.
During her studies at Cambridge, she concentrated on 2D materials that might greatly improve modern electronics. She examined issues in nano-fabrication that are vital for making very small devices needed in new technology. Such study is necessary for creating electronic gadgets that are smaller, faster and use less energy.
In addition to her education, Maheera Abdul Ghani worked hard to help women excel in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. People celebrate her historic achievement around the world and inside Pakistan.
