LAHORE (Azaad English): The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Friday has taken strict action against several officials after finding them guilty of overbilling and corruption.

An official LESCO notification stated that XEN Ferozewala received a demotion to SDO rank as three SDOs participate in overbilling and corruption activities and were subsequently dismissed.

The notification issued under the directive of WAPDA has forced Grade-18 XEN Saadat Siddiq to move down to Grade-17 while assigning him SDO responsibilities. The authorities made their determination after XEN Saadat Siddiq received guilt convictions for both overbilling and corruption offenses.

The electrical employees SDO Mandi Usmanwala Hafiz Tayyab Zakir and SDO Mustafaabad Laliani Salman Samuel and SDO Mohammad Usman lost their positions due to official termination.

In the first months of this year LESCO took a significant stride to enhance its distribution system by implementing single-phase meters across its domains. The service area of LESCO extends across all of the districts within Punjab comprised of Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana and Kasur.

Eighteen thousand single-phase meters emerged from the Materials Management Department of the company during its first distribution phase. New connection customers will receive these meters but the management still needs to schedule the replacement process for faulty ones. Those consumers who filed demand notices by October 4th will receive the single-phase distribution meters.

The LESCO spokesperson confirmed that there exists no shortage of three-phase meters because the scheduled delivery dates for consumers who submitted demand notices by January will be fulfilled.

New customers must go to the official website of LESCO if they want to apply for a connection. Consumers require connection type, area information and CNIC number along with minimum load details and premises address to finish their application.
