Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have used tear gas shells on the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) protestors in Peshawar on Monday.
PPP supporters held demonstrations against alleged corruption by the KP government on May 26. The protests under the “Save the province” movement were made in different districts of KP province.
The police have completely closed the entry and exit routes of the Red Zone, while a large number of PPP protestors are present at the Assembly Chowk and are shouting slogans against the government.
According to reports, the protesters tried to enter the Red Zone, where the police fired tear gas at the protesters, making the situation tense.
According to the traffic police, due to the closure of Khyber Road, traffic has been diverted to alternative routes so that the citizens face minimal inconvenience.
In a further escalation of events, PPP protestors allegedly set fire to the camp set up by PTI supporters for the release of Imran Khan in Peshawar.
PTI supporters had set up different camps across the city of Peshawar to demand the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from Adiala Jail.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had already issued a warning about changing weather due to a western disturbance. The Lahore dust storm was part of this larger weather system affecting upper parts of the country, including Rawalpindi, Murree, and Peshawar. More rain and storms are expected in the next 24 hours.
