In a significant development, three suspects, including Amna Urooj, Mamoon Haider, and Zeeshan Qayyum, have been sentenced 7 years of imprisonment in the infamous honeytrap case involving renowned playwright Khalil ur Rehman Qamar.

Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed announced the verdict on Monday convicting three and acquitting other suspects in the case.

On 15 July, 2024, the famous playwright Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, who is often involved in public controversies mostly due to his alleged misogynistic remarks, was abducted after being lured by a woman in Lahore.

The writer was then blackmailed after objectionable videos were made involving Qamar. He held a press conference a few after the incident, claiming his innocence. However, the objectionable videos were leaked online soon after the incident. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar was then pressurised for a ransom.

Amna Urooj and other convicts were brought from jail to the court for the verdict. The court reserved the verdict last week after the trial was completed.

The playwright had claimed that around seven armed men entered the room where he was present, snatching his wallet, ID card, ATM card and mobile phone.

Amna Urooj had initially introduced herself as a fan of Qamar, when she expressed her interest in producing a drama, inviting Qamar to a specific location in Bahria Town, Lahore.
