WEBDESK: Parts of Karachi weather experienced light rain and drizzling overnight and into Wednesday morning, bringing a welcome change to the weather in the port city.
Areas including Lyari, Mauripur, Clifton, and Baldia Town reported drizzling, while parts of Malir district also received light showers. Rain and gusty winds were observed in Landhi, Korangi, and Shah Faisal Colony.
The return of the sea breeze has contributed to more pleasant conditions across the city, after several days of warm and humid weather.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued cloudy conditions in Karachi, with light rain or drizzle expected during the day and into the night over the coming days. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 35°C today.
Elsewhere in Sindh, hot and humid conditions are likely to persist. However, areas such as Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Khairpur may also experience light rainfall or drizzle during the evening or night.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory, warning of potential heavy rainfall and flooding across several northern and western regions of the country between 23 and 24 July.
The areas likely to be affected include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Swabi, and Mardan. Murree, Galliyat, Nowshera, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, and parts of Balochistan are also expected to experience heavy showers, raising concerns over flash floods in streams, rain drains, and hill torrents.
The department has cautioned that hill torrents, streams, and local rain drains in these regions may overflow, and advised residents and travellers to remain alert.
