KARACHI (Azaad English): The Karachi Traffic Police have introduced a special traffic plan to manage congestion in the city’s busy shopping areas ahead of Eidul-Fitr. To ease movement and prevent traffic jams, authorities have banned the entry of rickshaws, taxis, and ride-hailing services in several major markets.
The restrictions by Karachi Traffic Police will take effect from the 15th of Ramazan as thousands of shoppers are expected to flood the streets for Eid shopping. To ensure smooth traffic flow and assist the public, police officers will be deployed in commercial areas.
The Clifton Teen Talwar area will route all vehicles traveling between Clifton Bridge and Teen Talwar through different pathways for congestion management. Race Course provides a alternate passage together with Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road while people can also use Bath Island to reach Clifton Bridge .
The designated area will forbid all access by both rickshaws and taxis in addition to ride-hailing services. The traffic authorities have placed vehicular restrictions that extend from Tariq Road until Ittehad Signal while recommending vehicles to use Allah Wali and Noorani Kabab House and Medicare through Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
The Millennium Flyover extends access for vehicles that enter Millennium Mall from Drigh Road while prohibiting all rickshaw and taxi traffic through the underpasses in this area. The commercial route starting from North Karachi will need to shift its movement from Five Star Chowrangi to Shipowner Chowrangi or Landi Kotal Chowrangi in the Hyderi area. The movement of both rickshaws and taxis is prohibited in Saddar between Fawara Chowk and GPO Road along with Singer Chowk to Zaib-un-Nisa Street and Tibet Chowk to Eid Gah Chowk.
Authorities have urged residents to plan their routes accordingly and follow traffic guidelines to avoid delays. Additional traffic personnel will be on duty to manage road congestion and assist drivers and pedestrians. Citizens are advised to use private vehicles or public transport where possible and to remain patient while shopping during the busy holiday season.
