WEBDESK: Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie has publicly accused his successor, Aqib Javed, of undermining both him and Gary Kirsten in an effort to secure full control of the national team across all formats. Gillespie’s comments came after Javed’s social media post following Pakistan’s exit from the Champions Trophy, where he criticized the frequent coaching changes.

Gillespie responded, calling Javed’s actions “hilarious” and claiming that Javed had been secretly campaigning to take over as head coach. He also referred to Javed as a “clown.”

“This is hilarious,” Australian Gillespie said on social media.

“Aqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats.

“He is a clown.”

In the aftermath of these accusations, Jason Gillespie explained how Javed’s behaviour was harmful to team unity, especially after the challenges both coaches faced during their time with the national team.

Gillespie had resigned as Pakistan’s red-ball coach in December, amid reports of tense relations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and was replaced by Javed.

Kirsten, who had been appointed as the white-ball coach, also resigned in October after just six months of his contract. After his departure, Gillespie took over briefly, before Javed became the interim white-ball coach. Javed’s contract has been extended for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand in March.

Aqib Javed has not publicly addressed Jason Gillespie’s accusations, and the Pakistan Cricket Board has not commented on the matter.
