In a significant development, Islamabad is set to experience a new road linking the Margalla Avenue with the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1).
Authorities have finalised the survey and alignment of a new road for which around 181 Kanals of land will be utilised.
According to details, the process of alignment for the same project was completed in the past too; however, this time the project avoids a residential area in Islamabad.
After the finalisation of the alignment and survey, the authorities will announce the compensation rate in the coming weeks.
“Currently, work related to land acquisition is in progress. As soon as it completes, we will take steps to start construction work,” said the CDA’s Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza.
It merits a mention that the entire project will be constructed by CDA, and the project will cost the taxpayers Rs5.45 billion.
The Margalla Avenue link road to M-1 Motorway will reportedly have a six-lane road facility, aimed at providing an alternative route for commuters travelling to Islamabad from GT Road (N-5).

In a recent development, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started plans to introduce an electric tram system in Islamabad in order to modernise the city’s public transport infrastructure, while taking care of the environment.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has confirmed the development, stressing that the CDA has already approved a feasibility study for the electric tram project.
The electric tram project in Islamabad has been given a green signal from the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.
“Electric buses are already operational. Now we are moving toward electric trams,” Randhawa said. “A feasibility study will help us take the next step.”
It merits a mention that the CDA successfully launched 13 feeder electric bus routes across Islamabad, marking a significant step in the city’s transition to eco-friendly public transportation.
