WEBDESK: Islamabad authorities have officially increased transfer fees for vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and electric vehicles (EVs), starting from April 14, 2025. The revised transfer fees apply to both new and used vehicle registrations, marking a significant hike in costs for vehicle owners across the city.

Transfer fees for vehicles have surged by as much as 300% to 1100%.

For cars, the transfer fees have jumped sharply. Vehicles up to 1000cc will now cost Rs2,750 to transfer, up from the previous Rs1,200. Cars with engines over 1000cc will see a fee of Rs5,500, while vehicles above 1800cc will now be charged Rs11,000, up from Rs3000. This marks a dramatic increase compared to earlier rates, with some categories rising by more than 300%.

Motorcycle owners are also affected. Bikes with engine capacity up to 200cc will now have a transfer fee of Rs550. Those between 200cc and 400cc are set at Rs1,000, and bikes above 400cc now require a payment of Rs1,500.

For the first time, electric vehicles (EVs) have been included in the new policy. EVs with a power output of up to 50 kW will now carry a transfer fee of Rs2,500. EVs between 50 and 100 kW are priced at Rs5,500, while those above 100 kW will face a fee of Rs10,000.

These transfer fee hikes are part of a broader effort to increase revenue collection and better regulate vehicle ownership transfers. All collected transfer fees will go directly into the designated account of the Ministry of Finance.
