In a recent development, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started plans to introduce an electric tram system in Islamabad in order to modernise the city’s public transport infrastructure, while taking care of the environment.

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has confirmed the development, stressing that the CDA has already approved a feasibility study for the electric tram project.

The electric tram project in Islamabad has been given a green signal from the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.

“Electric buses are already operational. Now we are moving toward electric trams,” Randhawa said. “A feasibility study will help us take the next step.”

It merits a mention that the CDA successfully launched 13 feeder electric bus routes across Islamabad, marking a significant step in the city’s transition to eco-friendly public transportation.

Islamabad, known for its majestic beauty, is progressing with the modernization of the city’s infrastructure, which is particularly climate-friendly.

CDA has revealed that the authority is primarily focused on Soft Wheel Electric Trams and enhancing the existing electric feeder bus network.

The CDA chairman has instructed the relevant departments to conclude the feasibility studies for the electric tram project in Islamabad

According to sources, CDA will likely collaborate with a Chinese consultancy firm. Further details have revealed that initially, the authorities are considering four routes for construction, including one from Rawat to Faisal Mosque via the Expressway, and another from Jinnah Square to Islamabad International Airport via Srinagar Highway.

India has blocked the official YouTube channels of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

It merits a mention that ISPR has released detailed videos unearthing the Indian government’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack, which gained large traction from the Indian audience.

Pakistan has strongly criticised the Indian government’s continuous censorship, while claiming to be the “world’s largest democracy.”

Tensions between India and Pakistan have risen sharply since the Pahalgam attack on April 22 as India shifted the blame to Pakistan without providing any evidence.

Pakistan has officially condemned the attack while calling for transparent and independent inquiries.
