Senior Indian National Congress member and the leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to criticise the Modi-led government following India’s humiliating defeat in its war with Pakistan.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Indian Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, stating, “Will JJ explain: • Why has India been hyphenated with Pakistan? • Why didn’t a single country back us in condemning Pakistan? • Who asked Trump to “mediate” between India & Pakistan? India’s foreign policy has collapsed.”
Gandhi’s remarks came following India’s international embarrassment after it thumped its chest to the world for a week, warning that it would take “revenge” from Pakistan.
On April 22, militants attacked civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which led to 26 deaths in the Pahalgam area. India instantly blamed Pakistan for the attack without providing any form of evidence.
On the night of May 7, India launched its cowardly attack on Pakistani civilians with missiles, leading to more than 30 civilian deaths.
Pakistan shot down 6 Indian aircraft, including its much-prized Rafale jets, while defending its territorial integrity.
However, the political and military leadership of Pakistan made it clear that Pakistan would retaliate and achieve deterrence in the region.
Indian military, in its panic, further attacked Pakistani airbases on the night of May 10 and targeted civilian areas by drones.
Pakistan launched its retaliatory response, named Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, targeting multiple Indian military targets through PAF and Fatah ballistic missiles.
India instantly agreed to a ceasefire following successful Pakistani retaliation yet its jingoist media remained confused over the developments.
Now, the Indian opposition has targeted the Modi government for making India stand alone in the international community during its hostilities with Pakistan.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi also grilled the external affairs minister by asking, “EAM Jaishankar’s silence isn’t just telling – it’s damning. So I’ll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn’t a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth.”
