WEBDESK: The US President Donald Trump’s recent nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan has stirred outrage in India, with many Indians branding it “undeserved” and “deeply flawed.” However, what’s more telling is how this anger contrasts with growing calls for Pakistan’s positive role in regional peace to be internationally recognised.

Indian social media platforms are flooded with criticism, memes, and rants against Trump, with users questioning the legitimacy of the Nobel process itself. Many claim Trump did not contribute meaningfully to peace efforts. Instead, Indian policies in Kashmir, its border aggression, and internal communal violence have drawn international concern.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s steady efforts to promote dialogue, regional de-escalation, and humanitarian cooperation especially in times of conflict continue to be underappreciated by Western institutions.

The Government of Pakistan has announced its decision to formally recommend US President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

The announcement comes in recognition of Trump’s role in helping de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan during the 2025 military crisis.

According to Pakistan’s official statement, Trump played a key role through active diplomatic efforts that led to a ceasefire and helped prevent a full-scale war between two nuclear-armed countries. The government called his actions a “decisive intervention” that brought both sides back from the brink of major conflict.

In reality, India’s criticism says more about its own diplomatic insecurities than about Trump. And in this growing debate, Pakistan’s calm and constructive voice is a reminder of who is truly committed to peace in South Asia.
