WEBDESK: Indians were denied entry into Israeli bomb shelters during recent attacks, social media clips show,, raising questions about why trusted allies were left without protection in a time of crisis.
The growing defence partnership between India and Israel is drawing international scrutiny, with many viewing the deepening military ties as a potential threat to both regional and global peace.
Recent reports indicate that this alliance is not limited to arms deals, but has expanded into advanced areas, including cyber warfare, intelligence sharing, surveillance, and joint military exercises.
Analysts say this widening collaboration is contributing to instability in the region and could have far-reaching consequences for global security.
Over the past ten years, India has purchased Israeli defence technology worth approximately $2.9 billion.
These acquisitions include cutting-edge radar systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, surveillance equipment, precision-guided munitions, and missile defence systems.
Key technologies acquired by India include the Heron drones, Tavor assault rifles, and the Spice 2000 guidance kits, systems that are now actively integrated into India’s military operations.
Amid this growing alliance, right-wing groups in India have sparked further concern.
During a previous rally, Hindu extremists were seen chanting provocative slogans in support of Israel, shouting:,“Jo Hamas ka yaar hai, woh hamara gaddar hai, Israel hum tumhare saath hain,” which translates to: “Anyone who supports Hamas is a traitor, Israel, we stand with you.”
This rhetoric is coupled with the growing military ties that India is having with Israel which is causing alarm bells to ring throughout the region and many belief that this may cause even more tensions and conflict instead of liberating peace.
Despite everything, many Israelis do not treat Indians with the respect and dignity expected of a ‘trusted partner’.
During the recent attacks, Indians have been denied entry into Israeli bomb shelters and this begs the question of what this ultimate support of India to Israel is turning out to be.
People inside the shelters can be seen smiling, apparently happily, as they lock the others out.
In addition to Indian nationals being turned away, according to various reports, whereas Israeli citizens and even pets could be admitted into secure underground bunkers, Indian nationals were denied entry.
Many had no choice but to spend the night in metro stations, which were not designed as proper shelters.
There was no safe place given to them even when bombs were being dropped and the situation was tense.
This is despite the unswerving political and popular support that India has shown to Israel, particularly during recent conflicts.
Indian social media has been filled with posts praising Israeli forces and expressing solidarity.
Yet, the treatment of Indians on the ground tells a different story.
In another instance, when one Indian man attempted to join an Israeli prayer session, he was humiliated driven away and even kicked.
The humiliation has shocked many back home.
Critics argue that such treatment shows how misplaced India’s support may be, and how little regard some in Israel seem to have for their strongest foreign backers.
Some netizens have claimed that their country is neutral, and definitely not with Palestine.
The fact that animals were given more priority than human lives, just because they were Indian, is not just an insult, but a moment of reckoning.
It’s a reminder that support without respect leads to silence in times of need.
