WEBDESK: In yet another embarrassing blow to the carefully polished image of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has been revealed that Modi’s vehicle has racked up three pending traffic challans. The incident has triggered a storm of public trolling and mockery, with critics accusing the government of shameless VIP privilege while ordinary citizens are subjected to strict penalties.

The controversy erupted on social media when a citizen tagged Narendra Modi, publicly exposing the unpaid fines attached to Modi’s vehicle, registered under the number DL2CAX2964. The citizen urged the Prime Minister to settle the dues and avoid further violations a message that quickly went viral and drew sharp reactions from the public.

The expose has brought new life to outrage about India having a deeply rooted VIP culture, with many noting a disparity between preaching discipline by leaders like Modi and his or her car being permitted to violate laws with impunity. Many of these users made sarcastic comments as to whether the traffic laws only applied to the masses and not those in the car of Modi.

This event has provided more ammunition toward building up distain with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Those who criticize Modi point out that the car driven by his security detail does not get fined and its occupants are not subjected to actions, but ordinary Indians are subjected to constant crackdowns with regard to minor misdemeanors. The Delhi Traffic police has stood silent over the matter so far.

This isn’t the first time India’s toxic VIP culture has been exposed under BJP rule. In a heartbreaking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, an ambulance carrying a critical patient was stopped at a police barricade, while a local BJP MLA’s car was allowed to pass through without delay. The blatant disregard for human life in favour of political privilege sparked outrage at the time, highlighting the same deeply unequal system that continues to protect those in power while ordinary citizens suffer.
