There is no shortage of unorthodox takes or opinions, particularly on social media, but one Indian user’s views on recent seismic activity in Karachi made everyone observe a moment of silence.
Since May 31, Karachi has been witnessing multiple small earthquakes almost every day, with mild tremors shaking different areas of the city.
The tremors were felt in Malir, Landhi, and Quaidabad areas in Karachi earthquake.
The magnitudes of these earthquakes were less than 4 on the Richter scale; however, tremors were strongly felt by the citizens.
It should also be noted that earthquakes in Karachi are not common, and the rare occurrence of such a phenomenon caused more panic among the public.
The Indian social media users have made some outlandish theories and claims but social media users have found a winner for “one of the most dumbest takes.”
One Indian user linked the earthquakes in Karachi to the recent clashes between India and Pakistan. According to the Indian social media user, “Operation Sindoor is a gift that keeps giving”.
While the science and physics defy these claims, users also pointed to the fact that the clashes took place almost a month ago, and it would have no effect on seismic activity a few weeks later.
Disregarding the fact that India did not dare to attack Karachi, it should be highlighted that no scientific proof exists that any kind of conventional bomb can directly cause an earthquake.
The Indian user, who is apparently a published author, Rakesh Krishnan Simha, took to X to write, “India’s airstrikes on Pakistan lasted only 4 days and ended on May 10. Yet Pakistan continues to shake uncontrollably. Over 21 low-intensity earthquakes registered near Karachi in the past 3 days. Operation Sindoor – a gift that keeps giving.”
The Indian user had posted a bulletin of Geo News describing the earthquakes in Karachi.
One user commented, “Are indians generally dumb or is it a new mutation?” Another one commented: “Were you born this way or were you dropped head first?”
The majority of users did not spare the Indian user, with one saying, “Seriously the dumbest nation ever — has it always been this messed up, or did it start falling apart after losing to Pakistan?”
One user explained: “How unscientific can you be. Karachi sits on a fault line. Los Angeles constantly has small earthquakes because it sits on fault lines. People like you are ruining India.”
Another user wrote, “ can’t believe this was unironically posted and liked by more than 900 people UNIRONICALLY”
