Indian media is in shock after Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, will be meeting US President Donald Trump for lunch at the White House today.
The official presidential diary shows this meeting is set for 1:00 pm in the Cabinet Room at the White House, 10pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST) later today.
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is currently on an official trip to the United States.
Field Marshal Asim Munir is set to meet with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday as part of his official visit to the United States, the White House confirmed.
According to the White House’s public schedule, the lunch meeting will take place in the Cabinet Room at 10PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST) later today.
The Indian opposition party, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, has lashed out at Modi for Indian failed diplomacy, calling it a “triple jhatka” (Triple jolt) for the Modi-led government.
Ramesh asked the Modi government whether Field Marshal Asim Munir’s lunch was the reason behind Modi cutting the unsuccessful G7 trip short.
Indian media in shock
Meanwhile, Indian media has also gone into a firefighting mode as it gets difficult for the Indian government to hide its military and diplomatic failures.
COAS Asim Munir being welcomed by the President of United States for lunch is seen as a huge diplomatic victory for Pakistan after President Trump brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan last month.
The Indian government and media kept getting punched by Donald Trump as he continues to take the credit for stopping the Indo-Pak war, while the Indian government wants to create a false narrative that India only agreed to a ceasefire on Pakistan’s request.
Modi’s call to Trump
In his video message on the social networking website X, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that upon returning from the G7 summit in Canada, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Donald Trump on the phone for 35 minutes on Tuesday.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear to US President Donald Trump that India has never accepted mediation by any third country in conflict with Pakistan.
According to Indian official, Modi stated, “India’s Operation Sindoor is ongoing, India sees terrorism not as a proxy but as a form of war.”
In a highly irresponsible statement, Misri hinted that India will start war with Pakistan in future as well.
“Prime Minister Modi has clearly told President Trump that during this period, there were no discussions at any stage on issues like the India-US trade agreement or US mediation between Pakistan and India.”
He also claimed that the ceasefire was made through existing communication channels between India and Pakistan – a claim rebutted multiple times by US President Donald Trump.
The White House did not immediately comment on the Modi-Trump conversation. Pakistan had earlier said that the ceasefire came after its army responded positively to a call made by the Indian army on May 7.
Pakistan’s former foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto, took to X to point out the absurdity of this new Indian false narrative.
