The Japan Police have arrested a 24-year-old Indian man over the rape of a high-school girl in Otsu City last month.
The horrifying incident involving a minor girl and the Indian male took place in the Shiga region last month.
Police identified the perpetrator as the 24-year-old Indian national who had forced himself on a high-school girl.
On June 21, an Indian national who was in Japan reportedly for temporary work choked the high-school girl and continued to rape her.
According to a Japanese media outlet, the incident took place between approximately 12:40 a.m. and 1:20 a.m.
Following the investigation, the Police arrested the Indian national as the prime suspect in the horrific crime.
The Indian man denied the allegations, reported telling the Otsu Police officers: “I did not force her.”
The Otsue Police have also confirmed that the high school girl and the Indian man did not know each other.
Before the incident, he went with her to the front of the hotel under the pretense of asking for directions. He then forced her into his room.
In June, the US State Department issued a travel advisory warning female travelers to avoid going to India due to threats of rape.
“Rape is one of the fastest-growing crimes in India. Violent crimes, including sexual assault, happen at tourist sites and other locations. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning. They target tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, government facilities,” the advisory said.
