Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi revealed on Thursday that talks are ongoing with the Indian Cricket Board, hinting at a possible showdown between India vs Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup in September.
Speaking to the media, Naqvi remarked, “We will announce it shortly. We have had discussions with the BCCI, and there are a few issues that we will resolve shortly. Everything will be resolved soon.”
The annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council was held in Dhaka under the chairmanship of President Mohsin Naqvi.
Mohsin Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for hosting the event.
He also said, “We have decided to work for cricket. All 25 members attended the ACC meeting. I thank everyone.”
He said that they had a very memorable and pleasant time in Dhaka.
Mohsin Naqvi further said, “No one wants politics, the meeting was held in a very good atmosphere, a decision regarding the Asia Cup will be made soon, the Asia Cup will be announced soon.”
“This is teamwork, we will continue such meetings. Some people could not come to Dhaka, it happens. I was also unable to go to Singapore, which happened because of the busy schedule. The main thing is that all the members came.”
He also stated that they should wait for the announcement now, as discussions are ongoing with the Bangladesh Board on various issues.
The upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament is set to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The decision followed the ACC’s Annual General Meeting in Dhaka, where all 25 member nations participated.
