India started firing towards Pakistan from the Leepa Valley post located in Azad Kashmir late Saturday night in an attempt to intimidate Pakistan; however, they have failed completely.

The Pakistan Army stands firm, delivering a strong counter-response.

The fire exchange occurred after gunmen killed 26 people in Indian-occupied Kashmir’s Pahalgam earlier this week, with India blaming Pakistan for the attack.

The firing took place in the upper areas of Leepa Valley.

According to reports, the intensity of small arms fire increased, and the firing spread to several more posts.

So far, local people remain in their homes, and the situation is calm.

A day earlier, Pakistani and Indian troops exchanged fire overnight in Azad Kashmir.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has called for a “neutral” investigation into the killings, saying Islamabad is willing to cooperate and favoured peace.

India claims two of the three suspected fighters were Pakistani nationals, but Islamabad has denied any role in the attack.

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has said that the nation’s forefathers made countless sacrifices for the country’s creation and the military stands fully prepared to defend it.

He criticised India for levelling “baseless allegations” against Pakistan without verifiable evidence, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, calling Kashmir the “jugular vein” of Pakistan.
