WEBDESK: A new report by The Economist has revealed serious failures within the Indian Air Force (IAF) during the recent conflict with Pakistan, known as the Battle of Truth. The report accuses the Modi government of trying to hide the scale of India’s defeat.
India lost five jets including costly Rafales to Pakistan: The Economist
India lost at least five fighter jets, including its much-hyped Rafale aircraft. These are some of the most expensive jets in India’s fleet, each costing over $250 million. The defeat has caused major embarrassment for India on the world stage.
According to The Economist, General Anil Chauhan, India’s Chief of Defence, admitted that operational mistakes led to the losses. Captain Shiv Kumar, an Indian defence attaché, also confirmed that political leaders blocked the Air Force from striking Pakistani military targets.
These statements reveal serious confusion and poor coordination in India’s military leadership.
Indian Rafale Jets Failed to Perform
The report highlights critical flaws in India’s Rafale fighters. Although the jets were fitted with SPECTRA war systems, they failed to block incoming Pakistani missiles.
Shockingly, the jets were not even equipped with Meteor missiles or proper jamming systems. Indian defence circles are now blaming Dassault, the French manufacturer, for not sharing important software with India.
The Economist also claims that China provided Pakistan with advanced targeting systems and real-time data, helping Pakistan shoot down Indian jets with great accuracy.
Modi Under Fire After Trump confirms Indian Jet Losses to Pakistan
The wreckage of one of the Indian jets fell in Akalya Kalan, Punjab. Locals there are still waiting for compensation from the Indian government.
Opposition leaders in India are furious. They say the Modi government is trying to avoid a proper investigation. Congress MP Mahua Moitra tweeted,“Each Rafale jet was bought with $250 million of taxpayer money. We know at least 1 was shot down. Now POTUS says total 5 jets (not all Rafales) were downed. Doesn’t India deserve a post-Sindoor briefing?”
Trump confirms India lost five jets to Pakistan
Former US President Donald Trump recently confirmed that Pakistan shot down five Indian jets. His comment has caused a political storm in India.
With the Parliament session set to begin on Monday, Prime Minister Modi is under pressure. His critics say he is avoiding questions to hide the truth about the Operation Sindoor failure.

Modi now faces a tough choice. If he admits the Air Force losses, he will lose face both at home and abroad. But if he denies Trump’s statement, he may damage ties with the US, one of India’s key partners.
Within the BJP and RSS, anger is growing. Some party insiders believe it may be time to replace Modi to save their image.
The “strongman” image Modi built is now falling apart. With military losses, global embarrassment, and mounting political pressure, this could mark the beginning of the end for his leadership.
