As Israel deliberately starves the children of Gaza by halting the flow of all aid into the occupied territory, heartbreaking footage has appeared on social media of starving Palestinians begging the world to consider them humans.

One particular video caught the attention of people all over the world, in which a disabled old Palestinian man is crying and pleading to everyone, saying, “I haven’t eaten for three days. I want a loaf of bread.”

In that moment, he embodied the torment of hunger and the helplessness of the elderly in a city exhausted by siege, war, and genocide

The gut-wrenching video was enough to bring the entire humanity to a standstill, yet the oppression of Palestine continues with impunity.

Palestinians in Gaza are on the verge of starvation, and experts have called out Israel for carrying out a large-scale genocide and ethnic cleansing.

According to multiple international aid organisations, Gaza’s population is on the brink of famine. Al Jazeera reported that around 14,000 babies face the risk of dying from malnutrition if international aid does not reach them.

Meanwhile, the elderly man who was seen crying for a load of bread in Palestine has been given food by a local Palestinian. In the new video, which garnered worldwide attention for the oppressed Palestinians, the elderly man gets emotional again after he is given food.

Social media reactions on Palestinian man

Social media users expressed gratitude for basic humanity and condemnations against Israel poured from across the spectrum.

One user wrote, “I cried the last time I saw grandpa’s video. Now I’m crying like a fool because I’m happy and grateful. Alhamdulillah, may Allah bless you.”

Another user wrote: “I had lost faith in everything until i saw this,” while another user commented, “His plight really got to me… It is hard to watch a man cry from hunger. 😪 I am so happy he finally received some help.”
