WEBDESK: Humayun Saeed, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actors, is no stranger to the spotlight or the scrutiny that comes with it. In a recent appearance on Gupshup alongside Mahira Khan, the superstar opened up about the constant criticism he faces for repeatedly casting himself as the hero in his projects.
Known for hits like Mere Paas Tum Ho and Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Humayun Saeed addressed claims that he’s selective in his casting, Humayun responded, “I’ve been coming as a hero for a long time. Let there be a little targeting, it’s no problem.”
He added, “It’s not true that I only cast a certain type I’ve also worked with Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fahad Mustafa.”
Humayun also spoke about his latest film Love Guru, in which he stars alongside Mahira Khan. While the film is making waves, the actor admitted that the promotional grind isn’t always glamorous “I only enjoy film promotions on the surface. All the traveling makes it hectic.”
The director Nadeem Baig brings his blockbuster features including Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Jawani Phir Nahi Ani to create the upcoming film Love Guru. The film production comes from Salman Iqbal Films, ARY Films and Six Sigma Plus which unite key figures in Pakistan’s film industry.
The actor then surprised fans by revealing a childhood dream far from the camera “I wanted to be a cricketer. Imran Khan was my favorite. I loved batting.”
Still, his career in entertainment has soared. After appearing in Netflix’s The Crown, Humayun is now focused on producing new Pakistani films under his own banner. Colleagues like Mehwish Hayat and Adnan Siddiqui continue to praise his professionalism, showing the industry has his back.
At his side, Mahira Khan also shared that she I really enjoy coming to the set. “I’ve dreamt of being a movie star since I was a little girl,” she added.
Now, she’s looking beyond the spotlight “I want to produce something now and I want to become a big producer.” she revealed
Mahira also admitted that she hasn’t done as many dramas as she could have. “I should’ve done more dramas. I don’t know why I didn’t. But now, I will,” she said.
