WEBDESK: The Pakistani entertainment industry has been left devastated by the tragic death of actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali, whose decomposed body was discovered earlier this week in her Karachi apartment. New details from police investigations suggest she may have died as far back as September 2024 with no one noticing.
The 35 year old actress, known for her roles in Jalaibee, Laali, and reality show Tamasha Ghar, was found when police and a court bailiff broke into her flat in DHA Phase VI to carry out an eviction order. The flat was locked from inside, and no one had heard from her in months.
Humaira Asghar’s Months Old Death Feared
According to DIG South Syed Asad Raza, the condition of Humaira Asghar Ali’s body suggested it may have been lying undiscovered for around six months. The expiry dates on food items in her fridge showed September 2024, while two SIM cards in her mobile phone had been inactive since the same month.
Police also revealed that the last message on her phone was from an online taxi driver. Moreover, the electricity to her flat had been disconnected by October 2024 due to unpaid bills, and her last contact with the landlord was also in 2024.
The neighbouring apartment was vacant throughout this period, adding to the delay in discovering her body. A post-mortem has been conducted, and chemical reports are awaited to confirm the exact cause of death, although no signs of foul play were found.
