Pakistanis and the foreign tourists have been advised against traveling to Naran Kaghan from June 15 to June 17.
The advisory was issued because Mahandri Bridge is under construction.
The authorities are installing a 33-foot-wide steel bridge to replace the one that was swept away in last year’s flash floods.
The new bridge will help accommodate the increasing influx of tourists during the summer season and ensure uninterrupted travel between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

“This central facility, which links Kaghan valley with the rest of the district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan, was washed away by flood last year. Though the traffic was being managed through temporary structures since then, now a giant steel bridge is being installed to support the heavy influx of vehicles,” said Nadir Khan, assistant commissioner of Balakot.
The Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road will remain closed during this period.
The previous bridge’s destruction had caused prolonged suspension of inter-provincial travel between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
It is not safe for tourists to visit Naran Kaghan this week, however, visitors may travel to Shogran via the MNJ road, but would not be allowed to proceed beyond Mahandri.
You can also instead use the Karakoram Highway for travel toward Gilgit-Baltistan.
Diamer Police Control Room is actively monitoring the situation and can be reached at 05812-930037 for real-time travel updates and assistance.
