In a significant development, federal government has halted action against those British Pakistanis who were involved in an alleged attack against former CJP Qazi Faez Isa’s car in London last year.
According to details, Interior Ministry has restored the CNICs and Passports of around two dozen British Pakistanis who were involved in an alleged attack against ex-CJP Qazi Faez Isa in London.
On 30 October, 2024, former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa visited UK to attend a ceremony in his honour. Isa had been elected as a bencher at the Middle Temple, the oldest law school in Britain.
However, the event turned grim when PTI-affiliated protestors were waiting for ex-CJP outside the building.
Qazi Isa attended the event with his spouse and upon their return from the event, their car was attacked by PTI supporters.
Multiple video footages became viral on social media in which protestors were seen shouting and running after their car.
PTI stalwarts including Maleeka Bukhari, Azhar Mashwani and Zulfi Bukhari were also present in that protest.
Following the embarrassing ordeal, the Pakistan’s government leaders condemned the incident vowing action against the protestors.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a press conference, announcing that they would cancel the CNICs of those involved in the protest.
Furthermore, he confirmed that legal action would be initiated against the assailants, including the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) in Pakistan.
The minister announced that the attackers’ ID cards and passports would be blocked, and he indicated that a proposal for the revocation of their citizenship would be sent to the cabinet for approval.
He stressed that attacking the High Commission’s vehicle is a serious incident that warrants a strong response.
