Government announces Rs1 per litre decrease in petrol prices in Pakistan

In a significant development, federal government on Friday announced a decrease in petrol prices in Pakistan by Rs1 before Eidul Fitr.

Due to Eidul Fitr, the government has decided to implement the new prices from March 29. The petrol prices in Pakistan have been reduced till April 15.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been reduced by one rupee per liter, after which the new price will be Rs 254.63 per liter.

The price of diesel has been maintained and the price of high-speed diesel will remain at Rs 258.64 per liter.

According to the notification, the reduction in the price of petrol will take effect from 12 midnight tonight.

It merits a mention that earlier media reports suggested that the government would significantly decrease the petrol prices in Pakistan owing to reduced international oil rates.

Experts had suggested that petrol prices in Pakistan might be lowered by Rs3.18 per litre while diesel’s price could be decreased by Rs3 per litre.
