Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Monday interacted with youth and participants of the 15th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ), highlighting the armed forces’ resolve to end the scourge of terrorism in the country.

COAS Gen Asim Munir also highlighted the government’s constant focus on socio-economic development in Balochistan.

“The scope and nature of Balochistan’s current and future projects are enough to refute false propaganda. There are several development projects whose fruits have started reaching the people of Balochistan,” stated Gen Asim Munir.

The military chief appreciated the role of civil society in raising awareness among youth of Balochistan, saying, “The role of youth is key in the development and prosperity of Balochistan.”

Gen Asim Munir emphasised the foreign role in fomenting terrorism inside Balochistan, stressing, “The biggest threat to the security and development of Balochistan is terrorism under foreign patronage.”

‘Conspiracies by enemy elements to spread fear, instability and violence in the province will be foiled. Terrorism has no religion, sect, or race. Terrorism must be defeated with full national unity.”

The Army Chief Gen Asim Munir condemned the terrorists using ethno-fascist ideologies to justify their acts, saying, “Groups that commit terrorism to fulfill their personal and nefarious objectives in the name of Baloch identity are a stain on Baloch dignity and patriotism.”

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the chief warned, “If Pakistan’s sovereignty or geographical integrity is challenged, a strong response will be given to protect national dignity and public security.”

He stressed that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region. The Army Chief also took a candid Q/A with the participants of the workshop in Rawalpindi at the end of the session.
