WEBDESK: A wildlife officer in Gilgit-Baltistan has captured a once-in-a-lifetime sighting of four fully grown snow leopards in a single frame near K2.

This incredible footage was recorded on March 12 by Wildlife Watchman Sakhawat during his routine patrol in the Ganche District.

Snow leopards, often called the “ghosts of the mountains” due to their elusive nature, are among the rarest big cats in the world. Their population is declining due to habitat loss, poaching, and climate change, making this sighting even more significant.

While past sightings have included a mother with three cubs, this is believed to be the first time four adult snow leopards have been filmed together.

The breathtaking video, now circulating widely on social media, highlights the Himalayas and the success of conservation efforts in Pakistan. Wildlife experts and nature lovers are celebrating this rare moment as a major milestone in snow leopard preservation.

Conservation efforts in Gilgit-Baltistan, including the protection of natural habitats and anti-poaching initiatives, have contributed to the survival of these majestic creatures.

Wildlife officials are hopeful that this sighting will bring more awareness to the importance of preserving Pakistan’s rich wildlife. They also urge the government and local communities to continue efforts in protecting the endangered snow leopard population.
