Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab on Monday issued an alert for flooding in Chenab, Jhelum, and Ravi rivers across the country amidst heavy spells of rain.
The PDMA Punjab also warned of an immense rise in water level of these rivers from July 7 (Monday) to July 9 (Wednesday).
Likewise, the authority has also cautioned against an extraordinary rise in water levels in the Chenab River at Maralla headworks.
In the Chenab and Ravi rivers, there is a danger of medium to high floods, particularly in the drains adjacent to these rivers.
As heavy spells of rain occur across the country, the PDMA also issued a warning of flash floods in Rod Kohis (mountain channels) of Dera Ghazi Khan.
Warning of urban flooding has also been issued in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi divisions.
The PDMA Punjab has also formally issued alerts to Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and WASA authorities of these divisions.
Rescue 1122 services have also been alerted to prepare in advance to deal with any emergencies if they arise in these days.
“People should be kept aware of the developing situation along with supply of food and clean water,” PDMA directed.
