QUETTA: According to the press release by Quetta commissioner’s office police have filed an FIR against the leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and their armed supporters for inciting violence, attacking hospitals and officials, and leading violent protests.
A protest led by the BYC in Quetta escalated into violence as armed individuals opened fire and pelted stones at police. The protest was held to demand the recovery of the bodies of terrorists killed during the Jaffer Express operation.
During the unrest, three individuals, including an Afghan national, were killed. Authorities confirmed that these deaths were caused by armed goons accompanying BYC leaders. In response, civil authorities and police demanded the handover of the bodies to determine the actual perpetrators, but BYC leadership refused despite knowing the circumstances of their deaths.
Upon requests from the families of the deceased, police retrieved the bodies from BYC supporters and returned them to their families.
Legal action has been initiated against BYC leaders and armed individuals for their involvement in inciting violence, attacking a civil hospital, and instigating riots. Cases have been registered under relevant laws to hold those responsible accountable.
Earlier senior leader of the Baloch Unity Committee, Mahrang Baloch, was arrested during a protest on Saryab Road in Quetta She was leading the protest demanding the release of activists and opposing the sight of bodies at the Civil Hospital, where many families had gathered.
