WEBDESK: A crowd of poor people in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district broke into a government ration shop on Sunday after waiting for food for several hours due to poor arrangements in Modi failed government.

India often boasts about its global ambitions, but at home, citizens are seen struggling and fighting just to get food. According to NDTV, the chaos broke out at a ration shop in Ward Number 3 of Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh after the government announced a food distribution plan for the poor.

NDTV reported that a large number of people gathered at ration centres across the district. As hours passed with no service and growing frustration, the crowd at one centre broke the main gate of the shop. Despite the salesman being present, the shop remained shut for hours, which only added to public anger.

The crowd, which included women, elderly people, and children, forced open the locked iron gate, leading to a stampede. Several people were reportedly injured in the rush.

Local people told NDTV this is not the first time such mismanagement has taken place. One resident said that problems like failed OTP verification, unmatched fingerprints, and repeated server outages make the process even harder. On most days, only 20 to 25 people are able to get food from one outlet.

Many ration centres in the district are facing similar issues. Locals say that the government’s digital system has become a burden for the poor instead of a benefit. The event in Chhattisgarh shows the true face of the Modi government’s economic claims. It also reflects how the system has failed to protect the dignity of women and the elderly.

While the rich continue to grow their wealth, the poor in Modi’s India are forced to fight for basic needs like grains. India’s welfare system seems broken due to digital mismanagement and an elite driven system. The incident highlights deep inequality, rising poverty, and the failure of the state to serve its most vulnerable citizens.
