February 27 weather is going to play a crucial role in determining Pakistan’s future in Champions Trophy 2025. The weather department predicts that it is going to rain on Feb 27 which could potentially lead to the match being postponed and getting Pakistan a much-needed chance to play the semi-final.
Notably, the third and the last group match is with the Bangladeshi cricket team.
The defending champions Pakistan have lost two of their three group matches and is presently at the bottom of the table of Group A with 0 points as well as a net run rate of -1.087 but there is still a hope for the Pakistani team to qualify for the semi-finals.
In order to qualify, Pakistan will have to beat Bangladesh by a huge margin to improve the net run rate with at least two points.
Simultaneously, India and Bangladesh must beat New Zealand to keep the latter also at two points from their win against Pakistan.
The match is scheduled for Thursday, February 27 in Rawalpindi where the two sides are going to compete in the Rawalpindi Cricket stadium and if the rain hampers the match, it will keep Pakistan in the loop.
Notably, Bangladeshi side have already lost their fixture against India and if the aforementioned scenario plays out the way it is expected it will leave all Group team except India with 2 points each and then the second semi-finalist will be decided through the Net Run Rate, leaving a little hope for Pakistan to defend the title.
However, it merits a mention that this scenario is also seemingly impossible because of the current performance of the teams.
Since the beginning of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan lost first match of the tournament to New Zealand by 60 runs whereas India defeated the Greenshirts by six wickets in the second match yesterday (Sunday, Feb 23).
