WEBESK (Azaad English): Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan (TTAP) spokesperson Akhonzadah Hussain Yousafzai has rejected rumours about alleged conditions set by Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), for joining the opposition alliance.
Speaking to the media, he said that Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman did not make any conditions in advance for taking over the leadership of the opposition alliance. He added that the government knows a grand opposition alliance will be formed in the coming days.
Hussain Yousafzai also claimed that the media has spread false news about Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman.
He stressed that the claims that he set three conditions to join TTAP are completely baseless. He further explained that Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has not demanded the leadership of the opposition alliance nor has he asked for a share in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government.
During a news conference in Islamabad, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi – who have recently joined the opposition alliance said that talks with opposition parties are ongoing. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi noted that the people of the country want a solution to the current situation.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai announced that the alliance has decided to organize a national conference to speak on and solve the country’s problems.
“We want to play our part in solving national issues. We invite everyone to join this conference, which will run for two days on February 26 and 27, during which national matters will be discussed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aslam Ghori, spokesperson for JUI (F) in Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, stated in a press release that some circles are worried about news of JUI (F) joining the opposition alliance. He said those who are worried are spreading unfounded rumors. He noted that even without a leadership position, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman is playing an important role in the opposition alliance. Now that he is not dependent on any official position, his joining will only strengthen the opposition.
He said that such statements are helping to reduce differences among opposition parties. He also claimed that a campaign to defame Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has been ongoing since his speech in Parliament.
It should be noted that the opposition parties had held an important meeting on Friday and decided to expand the anti-government alliance.
